W as in W . . . (A-Z Challenge)

Logos Eis — Wistfully

Wistful: "having or showing a feeling of vague or regretful longing." Wistfully: adverbial form of the word.

Bear sits wistfully, looking at his computer screen wistfully. Only four more chances to do something in the A-Z Challenge. Only four more chances to visit more than a thousand bloggers. So much to do; so little time.

But better too many to read than too few, perhaps. I think I've checked over 100, some fairly regularly.  Sadly, 100 is only 1/17th of the people initially enrolled in the project. Only 1/17th. Small number, that.

On the other hand, I've made some delightful new friends.  But I've not kept up with some older ones. I think that means I'm getting spread too thin.

After the blog challenge, what happens? I've been thinking about updating my blog. That somehow seems a bit more of a challenge than what I want to undertake at this time.

Sigh!

Logos Duo — Whoa! Where's Winter?
I think the pictures speak for themselves.

The grass is clear!

The ice is gone; the river is open!

Tennis, anyone?

We're making progress.

W is also for watershed, wind, whistle, Wongarra (Australia), and weird (as in Bear with a computer).

Blessings and Bear hugs, everyone!

Addendum
I was in to see my doctor veterinarian yesterday. This "kid" — younger than our own children — I have entrusted with the responsibility of trying to help me keep healthy. Large challenge for someone so young.

But he's smart! I ask questions; he's got good answers. Thankfully.

Where did all the time go? I swear I'm hardly a day over 35. Yet I'm getting close to 35x2! That scares me some days.

Anyhow, the years have taken their toll. Parts of me are degenerating, though my vet assures me I'm not a degenerate. (Some in the blogsphere might disagree with the vet.) Still, I feel less functional. Disconcerting, that.

Ah, well.

  1. This post could have gone under D for daunting as well. It has been a task to try to keep up with so many blogs. I have taken on a few regulars such as yourself but for the most part I commit to about 5 a night/day and however far I get, is as far as I get, I guess! Can only do our best .

    1. Daunting? Hmmmm. All I know is that I just keep on keeping on. You're a courageous soul for taking on as much as you do.

    2. Nah, no courage. Just too much time to sit lately. The AtoZ came at an opportune time for me, otherwise I might not have even participated.Take care and keep on keeping on...persistance is a good part of the battle.

    3. Well, whatever, then. Well done, though.

P.S.: The second blog is my poetry blog, if you like poets. Or people who think they are poets.

  2. I only have read a few of the A-Z challenge, but yours is one I am happy to be part of. It's definitely a task to read and read... and write and write. You've done so well, Bear! I'm proud of you, and I send you a very passionate huzzah for your efforts! Yay! :-)

    1. You're so sweet DJan. Thank you. I never cease to be fascinated by your mountain-climbing reports. And yes, I even admire your willingness to jump out of perfectly good airplanes.

  3. I feel like I'm spread thin as well. I'll admit, I have gotten to a very small number of new blogs throughout the month--just posting and keeping up with commenters and the bloggers I usually visit has been a challenge.

    1. Kinda overwhelming, isn't it. Glad you keep working at it, Eagle. Thanks for visiting this Bear.

  4. The river is open for bears to fish. That's what you'll do when the blog challenge is over. Right now, just continue to wistfully look at that computer screen!

    1. Not the right time for fishing in this river. But lot of berries, and nuts, and other goodies are showing up. Great time to be a Bear. More or less.

  5. It has been a challenge to post and keep up with those that have been kind enough to visit me. I make sure to visit them back. I started out visiting random blogs on the list but soon grew overwhelmed. Very impressed with your effort!!

I have added very few new friends this challenge. That is by design because I seem to neglect the ones I've had for such a long time. I always feel more comfortable with old friends but they were new at one time.

    1. I've been having that same problem, Manzi. In a few days, when this is all over, I'll need to dust out my brain and see what's happing, past the fog of immediacy.

  7. I wish I had the super power of high speed reading. I would use it to read all of the blogs entered. So many are very very good. I guess I'll just have to read about 5 a day after the challenge is over to see what new things I can find. I'm glad I found yours. Jennifer a.k.a Urban Gypsy Girl

    1. Speed reading is "foreign territory" for a Bear. But I trundle along as best I can. I probably won't be reading as many bloggers as I have this month. But i will keep up with you. An Urban Gypsy is somewhat like a Bear living in an Urban Forest.

  8. I have visited quite a few new blogs and made some new friends. I've had fun with this challenge and will probably do it again next year. Before the challenge began I only had 2-3 regular commentors on my blog so it's been a challenge for me just to keep up with everyone who has been leaving me comments and commenting back. But it's been fun.

    1. Well, the fact that you have visitors who keep coming back is a great. I means people like something about your writing. This is a "good thing."

  9. I love the word wistful, Rob. I haven't read nearly as many of the A to Z posts as I should. I've tried to get to at least 1 or 2 a day. I was getting frustrated earlier in the challenge because the ones I would pick were always several letters behind, obviously not keeping up. I know how you feel with the aging thing. Most of my doctors are younger than me also. I don't need to go often because I work hard to stay healthy on my own and I think i'm doing a decent job of it. I work hard to keep my husband healthy. He's a little more into doctoring than I. But we do Ok together. Have a great weekend!

    1. I've also notedthat people I was following are getting behind. This A-Z Challenge is not easy. As for doctors, my oal is to see mine once a year, for my annual checkup.

  10. I like the word 'wistfully' and would use it more often if I had reason to. Unfortunately, I very seldom feel that way. Or should I say, luckily?

    1. Luckily, I think. There is a vey real sadness and longing in the word.

  11. I'm way behind in my blog reading; I think I've gotten to only a few hundred of the blogs, and that was only in the early days of the month. After this challenge is over and I get some sleep, I plan on reading more of the blogs. Better late than never! This has been such a busy month...

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. The whole process is a it mind-boggling. It actually takes quite a bit of management to stay on top of it all. But this time next week, things will be a bit more"normal," whatever that means.

  12. I've done the same. There are just so many that look like fun to read, and then I have to make my comments, then I feel like I have to keep returning when I comment once, so now I'm checking more than I can count! :)

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN AWARD-FREE AND MEME-FREE SITE. While I'm honoured to receive awards, I find they take way too much energy in completing. Thanks, but no, thanks.
