F as in FOXTROT (A-Z Challenge)

When a Fox is trotting along, is it doing the Foxtrot?

I suppose I should ask blogger friend Manzanita at Wanna Buy a Duck (which is #93 on the bloggers list for the A-Z Challenge). She's doing all her posts on dancing, and I'm betting she is doing "Foxtrot" today. Manzi, are you there?

In the meantime, if you can answer my question, I would particularly appreciate hearing from you.

F is also for fix, frill, flower, funny, and fraudulent.

Blessings and Bear hugs!

  3. I would think it was a foxtrot. But you might have to ask a fox to find out for sure. ;)

    1. Yes, of course! Ask a Fox. Now why didn't I think of that? I am soooooo slow when I come out of hibernation, especially on a snowy day, like yesterday.

Thanks for the help. I know lots of foxes in these woods, especially the family that rents my den all summer. I'll ask one of them.

  4. Hey Bear,
Here you are, I've been going over to Chrome.... no wonder. Thanks for the shout-out. Funny, we both had the same idea and the same idea about a fox trotting. I suppose if bears can write, foxes can trot. Haha Sorry I've been missing you. Totally my not thinking but now I know where you are.

    1. Thanks for coming by. Chrome is shut down now; this is where to find me.

Yes; of course. If a Bear can write, a Fox can trot. I should have thought of that. (Hey, I just came out of hibernation a few days ago; I'm still a bit "Bear brained."

  5. My parents feed 4 foxes in their back yard every cay. I am privileged to watch them "trot" to and from their feeding bowl each day that I am at my parents' house.
I can for sure tell you that they are doing the fox trot!
    Hugs to you, my friend.

    1. So glad your parents are looking after those Foxes. They are cute! (Both your parents and the Foxes.)

And thank you for the information about those Foxes trotting in for dinner.

Hope you have a great Sunday!

  8. I learned to foxtrot from a man who was in the same hospital rehab as I was about twenty years ago. He had a stroke and I had fractured my skull. We both needed to learn to improve our balance. He was a champion foxtrot competitor. I had such fun! I can only imagine it would be better with a bear!

Quite an interesting experience with Foxtrotting! A memorable event no doubt.

Not so sure about you dancing with a Bear. When was the last time when someone weighing 800 lbs. stepped on your foot?

    3. Well, yes, that is something to be considered. I would try very hard not to step on your feet! But I do admit I am a bit, as Humans would say, heavy or clumsy on my feet; I do not move with the lightness and speed of a chipmunk.

Q: What do you get if you cross a grizzly bear and a harp?
      A: A bear faced lyre!

Its the only one I know pertaining to bears!

Not so sure that would make a good mantra, or the like. Still, I'll try it sometime.

  10. Funny, I was just barely at Manzanita's blog and yes she did post about the Foxtrot. Why did you change blogs? This one looks very much like the old bear cave.

    1. Hi, Karen. Great to see you here. I've just come out of hibernation, and I'm trying to get reconnected with everyone.

Why change blogs? Well, I don't live out on "the range" any more; I live in the urban forest. Maybe this is my chance to be urbane. Other than that, I don't know. Why is the sky up? Who is John Galt?

    1. Welcome to the Bear's blog. Care for some fish or berries?

Fox trot or Foxtrot. I'm really not worried one way or the other. When I see a Fox doing it, I know what it is. Same for a couple dancing.

  12. They could have, of course, been doing the fandango. But any animal could have, it is not restricted to foxes. A bear could have danced the fandango if he wished.

    1. Well, I suppose anything is possible. But what is this fandangled stuff anyhow? Can you describe it or show me this newfangled thing?

Sometimes, being a Bear in a Human world is very "challenging." (That's a Human word for "confusing," I think)

  14. Hmmm no idea foxes actually do trot (or any other sort of dance) but they do move in a very similar way to cats - have you ever noticed this or is it just me?

I haven't seen many foxes, except for the ones that are trotting, so I cannot comment on your observation.

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
