IN WHICH BEAR UNDERTAKES A PUBLIC SERVICE PROJECT FOR MOTHERS' DAY

Today is called Mothers Day in North America.

A day set aside to remember mothers.

Mine died about nine years ago. I still think of her often — the way she was, the things she did.

But we all have, or had, mothers. In fact, many of you are mothers. You are the traditional keepers of home and family, even if that is a shared responsibility in your household.

If, for some peculiar reason, you have been overlooked, forgotten, ignored — Bear presents the following public service message:

Blessings of home and family life!
May you experience them, today and always!

  2. Thank you. My son, Favorite Young Man, is an auto mechanic. He took my car to work with him yesterday and put two new belts on it and checked the tires. I would have paid him, but he said no, happy mother's day. It's very nice to have a son who keeps me from needing to make a car payment.

    Love,
    Janie

  10. My mom has been gone 11 years now. We are never too old not to need our Mothers, are we?

I didn't even tell Tanya it was Mother's Day yesterday. Yesterday was Remembrance of the Dead in Russia and Ukraine. We (Tanya, Lina and I) walked up to Roman's grave. Tears were shed.

My kids have had a hard time with Mother's Day since Ella died but are thankful (as am I) for all the Mom's who have loved and cared for them and influenced their lives over the years. We have been blessed with such wonderful friends.

  11. Mothers Day..... Thanks Bear
I walked with a daughter, had phone calls from others and then I worked in the yard. Couldn't start the mower. Dang.

Hope you had a wonderful Mothers Day going at your house, too.

  25. Thank you for the good wishes. My mom died in 1993 when I was 24. These days I am the mom at the "Mother''s Days" celebrations at our house. I didn't think much about Mother's Day this year, because obviously my mom isn't here anymore. I was amazed to discover that my two kids did a lot of thinking and planning. They made me lovely gifts and we had a great day together. It was almost a shock to the system this year to realize that this holiday is about me now. Wow. Kind of like my birthday. It was cool.

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN AWARD-FREE AND MEME-FREE SITE. While I'm honoured to receive awards, I find they take way too much energy in completing. Thanks, but no, thanks.
