IN WHICH BEAR STARTS GETTING READY FOR THE SUMMER, ELSEWHERE

If this is Spring, Here Comes Summer!

Some time ago (actually quite a few posts ago) I said I might be spending part of my summer at my tent on Blogland Lane.

I made the first move yesterday. I went and checked my tent. It survived the winter wonderfully. I found where my camp fire ring was and got it set up. I put up a little note saying that I would around, and that people ought not get too unsettled if they see me swimming in the lake, or sitting by my campfire. I'm planning to have coffee and bannock there, on a regular basis, for visitors. I'm trying very hard to be a sociable Bear. Which I think some people recognize, when they say I'm very trying.

Anyhow, if I'm gone more than overnight, I'll leave a note, letting you know where I am. If you're wondering about Blogland Lane, you can check here, and you will be transported there, magically. Also, if I am away for a bit, I'll check in at your blog when I get home (or I'll try some high tech equipment at the Lane, if they have an uplink).

Meanwhile, Elsewhere . . .

Also as promised, I've been busy with some poetry. I thought it would be ready for today, but it isn't.

Tomorrow, perhaps most likely.

I hadn't expected to be this busy, but, well, I am. Strange how life unfolds; very strange.

"And that," said Bear," is that."

Oops. I just remembered, about my homework from yesterday. Well, I guess it will get done. Sometime. Here I won't lose marks for being late. On the other hand, will I lose readers?

Hmmmm. Difficult question, that. It needs more thought, by this Bear of Very Little Brain.

Blessings and Bear hugs!  xoxo (as Humans would say.)

  1. You made me laugh at the "trying." Light the campfire.... well I guess you bears are expert at campfires.

    1. Campfires are wonderful. The ursine thing is to move in, and when the people scatter, eat all the marshmallows. Though I would only take a few; the Humans might think of them as — how do they put it — "comfort food." After I leave.

On the other hand, brush fires and forest fires are really not fun at all! (I've actually fought those in the past.)

  2. Bear, it's always so wonderful to read your posts. They bring a smile to my day, even in the midst of students.

I recently read a book about you - it's called the Tao of Pooh. Have you seen it?

    1. Strange; very strange. I have heard about the Tao of Pooh, and the Te of Piglet. Have I read them? No. So I guess I'd better trundle down the the library and get them.

  3. I have the Tao of Pooh and haven't read it yet. I'll have to get to it so I know more about you.

    1. Honestly, Janie, I don't know a thing about the Tao of Pooh, or the Te of Piglet. Except that people quote them. Perhaps I should read them.

      Thanks.

  4. Tao of Pooh, Te of Piglet are both sweet and wonderfully enlightening in their own ways...I suspect that you may emulate those despite not having read them...PS I signed into the summer site some time ago but cant seem to figure out how it works...is it just me?

    1. Well, I've ordered the Tao of Pooh from the library. We'll see what happens after I've read it.

As for the summer site, I think it works just fine. I was there a few minutes ago, and left a reply to your comment.

  6. I'm glad to know you are settling in to enjoy yourself. It's important, not just for Bears, for all of us you know. :-)

    1. Thanks, DJan. Now all I have to do is learn to relax. Relaxing is not one of my acquired skills. I tend to be too edgy to relax. Which is very strange. And disconcerting.

Truth be told, there is so much happening here, I don't know which way to point my snout. Sigh!

  7. When I cannot find you Bear, I will look here, at Blogland Lane. I am setting up my camp down the stream by the big red maple.

    1. GRRRRrrRRRRrrrrRRR. I left you a lovely note, and it has evaporated into this air.

Anyhow, I'm glad to know who lives by the big maple tree. We don't see those trees out west. They are the one thing — specifically, the bright red leaves in the autumn — that I miss from back in Ontario, which was home for so many years.

      I'll be checking on you!

    1. Thank you so much for your kindness, Jamie. Truth be told, I'm feeling a bit (OK, more than a bit) overwhelmed by all these awards I have been given. They seem to be creating an anxiety in my life, because I haven't done them the justice they deserve. I haven't had a panic attack over them which is good. But justice delayed is justice denied.

Anyhow, I'll try to deal with all this soon. Or else I'll just give up, and say, "Thanks, but I just cannot do it." You, I'm sure, would understand.

      Blessings and Bear hugs!

    1. True, Lisa. I have these marvellous plans, you see, but usually something goes wrong in the execution of the project, and I get thrown for a mental loop.

Thanks for visiting and leaving your note.

    1. My feeling precisely, Julia. I must remember to take my hiking gear with me when I finally get set up. That gear includes my notebook for writing poetry.

  12. You just do what you need to, Bear. We'll keep in touch as we can and enjoy catching up when we're able. Busy is good. Makes for more appreciation when we get our down time. Best of the evening to you:)

  13. Thanks, M.J., for the visit and note.

Sometimes, though, for this Bear, busy can be nerve-racking. It certainly is this morning. Maybe I didn't get enough sleep last night. Or I got up on the proverbial "wrong side of the bed" (thought I don't think I did that).

I hope you have a wonderful day. I expect to have a grand day, too, once I figure out what's happening.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  16. Re bears and campfires. Smokey the Bear never had any kids because every time Smokey's wife got hot, Smokey stamped her out.

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN AWARD-FREE AND MEME-FREE SITE. While I'm honoured to receive awards, I find they take way too much energy in completing. Thanks, but no, thanks.
