STORY AND ADDENDUM: IN WHICH THE BEAR STOPS AND THINKS

When I was sick (and believe me, I was very sick) I seemed to do a lot of blogging (at lest I did once I started to recover). Now, I am getting healthier — much healthier, in fact. And my blog is languishing. (My several blogs are all languishing.)

I do not understand this change. It seems almost unnatural. It is unnatural, to be precise.

"Strange, very strange," said the Bear in me.

And now I am writing in the first person, instead of writing about, or as, the Bear (in the third person).

Will the Bear simply trundle off into the wilderness, never to be seen or heard from again? Shall I become like a monk — silent and cloistered, while busy about my daily tasks?

This bit about being on an adventure is producing some unexpected results. I do not now what to make of these. I feel a bit uncomfortable.

Strange, very strange. Indeed.

Blessings and Bear hugs!

Addendum

Last week I had a cold.

The week before that I had a cold.

This week I have pneumonia. The doctor pronounced that verdict when I saw him this afternoon.

GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

  1. ANY kind of stress is discomforting. Good stress. Bad stress. Stress of the unknown. Stress of the known. It still has the same effects in our mind and body.

You might be feeling a little giddy delight, but are too wary to give it voice.

My posts languish when I'm very ill, or feeling enough strength to experience life beyond the front door.

    1. I've been strong enough to go outside and do lots of things. Suddenly, pneumonia. Now I'm ill, but different kind of Ill. This is not the "healthy" I was expecting would last.

Last time I had serious lung issues, I ended up in hospital. NOT a great sign!

  3. Working through a conundrum is an eregy booster ... Don't leave us. Though I seem to be in a tapering off mode right now .. As it pertains to blogging. Why not come to the Williw Ball .. I will save you a dance!

    1. Except this conundrum is complicated by some unplanned pneumonia, which knocked me silly. Or sillier than usual. Or something.

I'd love to come to the Ball, but who wants a Bear with pneumonia? I'd have to walk around, ringing a little bell, and saying, "Unclean! Unclean!" Or something like that.

    1. As long as this pneumonia doesn't send me into very permanent hibernation, I'll carry on. But right now my lungs hurt.

  5. At least we got a sign of life from you, that is good. You must be going through a transition, a metamorphosis even. It will be interesting to be what you morph into in the end. xox

    1. According to the ancient story, when Adam and Eve were put out of the garden of Eden, the man turned to his wife and said, "I believe we are living in an era of transition."

Bear is hoping for a happier transition, thanks.

    1. Thanks, Sub. Actually, I was feeling really good until I got hit with this pneumonia. Now I'm feeling, "Bah! Humbug!"

I would hate to miss the adventures of Tall Girl, the gun-toting Small Spring, You, and the Lovely Man. More excitement than most Bears can handle.

  7. Rob, once I met a woman with one side of her face sunken from Bell's palsy. She wore a flamboyant hat and of course a crooked smile.

'Let me tell you something,' she said to me. 'Every day I know less and less.' She grinned. 'It's good.'

This is what I thought of reading your post here. Let it rip, mr rob mr bear. Cut down to one blog and whatever whenever. I think it's going to be a good journey xo :-)

      Thanks for the story!

P.S.: Hope Chase is OK! Please pat him for me.

  8. Now that you are better, the light outside the cave might be calling to you to start a new adventure.

Glad to hear that your heath has improved, Rob-Bear. Take good care of yourself and do what gives you joy.

    1. Thanks for the kind wishes but, just when I got really health, after years of dragging about, I'm struck with pneumonia. This has curtailed the adventure, as you might expect. But I suspect this will be but a temporary paws. Or pause. Or . . . well, whatever.

  9. Well, I know you will figure something out, dear Bear. I'm glad you are getting better, even if it means that we will see less of the Bear. I'm just glad you are getting better, really...

    1. Thanks DJan. Here's the irony. After years of living with a lot of dis-ease, I finally pulled through, only to be levelled by pneumonia. This would not be considered good planning on my part. But if you can jump out of an airplane and into a formation, I expect I'll get over this, and go on to greater and gloriouser things.

I think we sometimes change the focus of our interests. I have plenty of hobbies and when I really jump into one, I seem to neglect other things. But I think we always return to the things we've dropped. I've cut way back on the posts too because I'm interested in making videos again.
Enjoy life.... that is all I can say.

    1. Thanks for the support, Reffie. But I don't think hibernation is the answer, at least not in this condition. Bear-naps are, I think, the preferred route. (But don't tell Evil Twin.)

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
