IN WHICH BEARS FINDS ANOTHER BEAR, CREATED IN A CUBE FARM*

Purloined from Sylvia Ney of Writing in Wonderland —

whose blog you would benefit from reading!

* NOTE

Cube farm: title given to an office divided up by cubicles in which employees work. Or "work, in theory." If a cube, any cube,  is meant to be inviting, it does not get this Bear's mark of approval! Utterly barren den if ever I saw one. Fit for neither Human nor Bear!

See what Humans create when resigned to living in a cube? Someone should learn something from this.

    1. I was quite sure that you weren't! A cube is a perfect location for a depressing day!

  2. I am now retired, and the Cube Farms are far away. From me and my life, at least. And they don't Bear any resemblance to a Den, as I remember. Sending you hugs, Rob-Bear! :-)

    1. Yes, indeed, DJan. Sigh! And there is a great difference between and Den and a Cube. I wouldn't be caught, dead or alive, in the latter.

Blessings and Bear hugs back to you, too!

    1. I'm somehow less than thrilled by the work of Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, Jean Metzinger, Albert Gleizes, Robert Delaunay, Henri Le Fauconnier, Fernand Léger, Juan Gris, and the like. No Cube picture in my den!

  5. I had to look at this several times here and at the original site to figure out how this was made. Someone had way too much time at work. At least they did something constructive.

    1. Have you considered that "clip art" is (perhaps) a form of resistance (or protest) by cube people? Should we get that into DSM-5?

  7. I'm a cubicle dweller, and it's true that from time to time we're driven to such wild acts of self expression. We can't help it, the orange fuzzy walls start to close in and we have to do something to assert our individuality!

    1. Oh, dear, Kellie! Deepest condolences to you on the state of affairs in which you have to live and work. Thankfully you have other things to do which distract form the severity of your punishment!

    1. Swipe a copy of the pic if you like, the same way as I did from Sylvia. (Only I don't think she knows, yet.)

  9. Vicious looking little critter, isn't it?

    1. To tell the truth BF, I think more unhappy than vicious. Crying to get outside, into the fresh air and sunshine. Trapped in a stuffy cube farm is not great for anyone.

  11. lol! :) I have never worked in a cube farm, but Ornery goes to one every day. Any time I have been to his office I get lost and have to have directions...er rather a guide. There are over 700 employees there, and a good many of them work in cubes.

    1. Well, if I were working in a cube farm, I would probably be Ornery, too. (Actually, knowing me, I would definitely be Ornery.

Did you realize what you were marrying into before you got married?

    1. Dya think? Why, yes you do!

I think that level of boredom should be considered "cruel and unusual punishment." Even if they pay you to sit in your cube all day.

  13. Would you want an office or just sit out in the open?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Out in the open, absolutely! Under a tree, with Robins and Chipping Sparrows providing the non-piped-in audio. And a bit pot if hunny in the lunch room (on the other side of the tree!). Oh, yes, and a colourful umbrella, in case the weather becomes inclement.

(That was the "out in the open" you were considering, I trust.)

  14. And the cubes are getting smaller and without walls. My friend said he can barely get his chair in. That's when I'm grateful I don't have a job....

  15. So very glad ours is not a cube farm, the chicks and lambs here are very uncube like. I did once work in a cube farm but quickly moved on

  16. I've only ever seen those cubes in the movies. I would worry about my sanity if I had to sit in one of those 8 hours a day.

    1. You're not alone Terri; I'd worry about my sanity in a place like that, too. If, of course, I have any sanity left.

  18. Warning. Warning. The language in "Outrage" will shock you, most definitely it's jarring. Just do a bear skip to whatever I do next. Happy almost Sunday, Rob.

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
