Men dressed as women I knew were the norm in Shakespeare's times. I didn't know about Bear's filling in for men. In that case, who spoke the lines, and where was he located? (All these things a Bear has to learn.)
Summer IS a wonderful time for Bears. We get to wax dramatic and poetic. How much more could a Bear want? (Besides a few fish and lots of nuts and berries?)
I wish I were better in interpreting Shakespeare - or in this case, Shakesbear. Which work of Shakespeare is the bear imitating and what do you the bear is trying to say, Bear?
We have a Shakespeare festival every summer on the riverbank. Put up a big tent and do a couple of plays over the summer months.
One year it was bilingual (so very Canadian, since we have two official languages). Romeo's family spoke English; Juliette's family spoke French. Intéressant! It's what we call the two solitudes — we don't really understand each other. Though that is changing now, very much. Especially as more Canadians are becoming bilingual, and bicultural.
This blog is dedicated to the enjoyment and amusement of it's readers. Or something like that. As in I want people to enjoy and be amused by what I write, and sometimes be startled.
Thank you for your kind words at mine. It is being busy (and taking photos) that is keeping me from blogging, though also I cannot be as free as I'd like on there now.
I love to keep in touch on FB though even though it's not quite the same.
Glad you enjoyed this one. And, for the record, he's not on the verge of grumpy; he is just very focused on what he is doing. Putting on a good act, so to speak.
East, as in east-room of the White House? Well whatever.
And are we thinking of the Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) of the tropical forests of Southeast Asia? The Far-Eastern Brown Bear with the bright orange blaze on its chest?
Not drama queens, but actors. The difference between the two is like the difference between getting a kiss, and getting swatted in the head with a Bear's paw.
Thanks, Posie. I know there are no native Bears in Britain. Perhaps you could invite a few over to your place, and then have then do summer theatre at the farm, as an added attraction!
Thanks kj, Actually Blacks (as in Bears) tend to be a bit more dramatic than Browns. And I think Blacks, which are easier to find, are more photographed than Browns. (There's your dose of useless information for today.)
I just enjoyed our town's production of Twelfth Night, so my head is full of 'softs' and 'marrys'! Love your Shakespearian bear ;)) Or as KJ calls it Shakesbear haha!!! Good one!
So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN AWARD-FREE AND MEME-FREE SITE. While I'm honoured to receive awards, I find they take way too much energy in completing. Thanks, but no, thanks.
I hope Juliet is watching.
ReplyDeleteWould be good!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
I think I saw that Bear perform at Shakesbear in the park.
ReplyDeleteCould very well be, Manzantia. I not sure of the Bear's acting history. But I'll bet people could Bear watching the performances!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
It's a little known fact that while men played the women's parts in Shakespeare's day, bears played the men's parts. True fact.

ReplyDeleteAnd covers things in Beary interesting way! Thanks.

Summer seems to be very pleasing to Bears. The recently posted photos surely do show a softer side.

Romeo ... my, Romeo!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Helen. Say, are you doing any summer theatre this year? If you need a Bear, I could perhaps send this one a note.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
I wish I were better in interpreting Shakespeare - or in this case, Shakesbear. Which work of Shakespeare is the bear imitating and what do you the bear is trying to say, Bear?
ReplyDeleteI believe the Bear has been involved in Romeo and Juliet. As to interpretation, I would have to read that section of the play.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs, Anita!
And I actually read Romeo and Juliet. Thanks, Bear. :)

Yes, a literate bear.
ReplyDeleteWhat the world needs is more literate Bears. As in more Bears who are literate.

Snort. Shakesbear. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI will leave him to his prose, though. He looks on the verge of grumpy.
Glad you enjoyed this one. And, for the record, he's not on the verge of grumpy; he is just very focused on what he is doing. Putting on a good act, so to speak.

Gorgeous. Shakesbear. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa. We attempt no second-class presentations here.

It is the east, and Honey-Bear is the sun.

Well done susan; you challenged me again!

That is a great bear!
ReplyDeleteWe could maybe let him come to your country, but he wouldn't stand a chance against the Grizzlies.
