But the sun! Oh, my goodness, the sun. Bright and light. Almost enough to blind a Bear or a Human, especially when reflecting off the snow. The temperature was COLD, but the sun! It seemed like a day full of potential.
I was involved in a national church conversation just before lunch. I cannot say it left me feeling uplifted. So many challenges.
Maybe the most important part was that J and I walked for maybe a couple of miles, in the afternoon. True, it was all within the city. But even here there are stores, and restaurants, and people to see. But you have to watch your step on the icy sidewalks. The worst place is at a corner when the city owns the property. The have not been following their own by-law, and the sidewalk is thick with ice, and very uneven, with foot-sized holes which could trip you up. Might even cause a broken leg. Or hip.
I got some reading done, too. But most important was the walk. After a bleak Christmas and January, I think I'm picking up a bit. I've put the Black Dog in the back yard, and he seems to be staying there.
For more about the Black Dog (of Depression), you can check out this video, from the World Health Organization. (It is a great video!)
Blessings and Bear hugs, friends!
Today's Weather Report
Bright sun in clear blue sky; -24C (-11F), with wind chill at -37C (-35F).
Glad to hear it Rob!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susie. Getting up and feeling good is wonderful!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
I hope you string seven together into a cheery week.
ReplyDeleteA kind thought, Cosmo. But I fear, in such a case, I might be strung out.
DeletePeace and joy!
I'm glad you are doing better, Rob-Bear. I am also very thankful for your connection to me, and your kind comments on my blog, while I go through this rough patch myself. Got a good night's sleep last night, the first since I left home on Monday. Sending you back some bear hugs. :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful to hear from you, DJan. Glad you got a good night's sleep; hope you have another wonderful rest tonight in preparation for tomorrow.
DeleteIt's another sunny day in the land of the Bear. It's going to be a good day.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Oh Bear that is a great video I have never seen before it but understand it. Here is to more good days my friend. Hug B
ReplyDeleteThanks, Buttons. I do what I can to support people with mental health issues. As you understand, I have enough of my own.
DeleteAnother bright sunny day in the land of the Bear. Lots more potential, I think.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Yea for the walk! Maybe if you walked like a bear, you would be more stable on that ice. Oh my, wouldn't that be an interesting adventure?
ReplyDeleteOh, could you send some sun. Our view of that beautiful orb has been obscured with these weird clouds that are dropping snow. Sigh.
Thanks, Reffie! I do hope to keep walking. It's a task not too hard to Bear.
DeleteAs for the sun, the best I can do is share some of my sunny personality. That's not exactly what you want, but I'm trying. (Please don't say very trying.)
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Thank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
ReplyDeleteAnd may you be blessed with many, many more cherry days.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the visit and kind words, so appreciated.
Hugs
Margie
Thank you so much, Margie, for encouraging words. Glad I could visit your place.

I don't like sunny days. I like dreary, overcast cold days. Yes, I am weird.
ReplyDeleteHMMMmm! A creature of the darker outlook? Not weird, just different. Personally, I have had far too many dreary days, so I'm trying to move towards the sunnier aspects of living.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs, nonetheless!
I hope you have enough sunny days to melt that snow and ice. I think you'd feel a lot better then. I personally love it when the sun shines, even when it is cold outside, but I don't like it when it is slippery underfoot.
ReplyDeleteSadly, the weather is cold enough that much of the ice is not melting. No matter. The sun is out; that's the main thing.
DeleteHope your day is sunny, too!
Blessings and Bear hugs!
I am glad you are feeling better, and I hope the good days outweigh the bad. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes, things are better. I'm slowly figuring out how to have a better day, regardless of the sun.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Yay for cheery days! I'm glad you had a good one. ☺
ReplyDeleteActually, I think this may be the start of a trend. I certainly hope so!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Sunny days make so much difference in our cold, dreary winters. I'm glad you're having a good day. Mind that ice.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Thursday was good; Friday was good; today is good. I think this is the beginning of a trend! I certainly hope so.

"I was involved in a national church conversation just before lunch. I cannot say it left me feeling uplifted. So many challenges."
ReplyDeleteDo you think we're all over thinking every part of our life these days. You would think church and being community would be peaceful part of our lives, are our expectations too high do you think?
Well! You certainly know how to ask interesting questions. Good question here. Interesting. I don't have a quick response to your excellent question. I'll need to get back to you about that. But thank you for asking! I'll try not to over-think the answer.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
The sun makes everything better.
ReplyDeleteThat is does, Lisa; that it does, indeed.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs.
So happy to hear you had a good day. This winter has already been long enough, cold enough, and filled with way too much snow for my tastes...and I generally like snow. Course this has been the hardest one in a long time. A little sun does the world a whole lot of good. ♥
ReplyDeleteYes, it has been a rather hard winter. Though perhaps not as bad as last year. I hope you stay well in the process.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
So happy that you had a wonderful Bear walk, my friend.
ReplyDeleteAnd I notice that you are enjoying the walk along the way. The best part of walking, actually.....
A good day; a fun walk. Thanks, Jackie.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Surely this is a site well worth seeing.
ReplyDeleteAnd you've seen it. Or at least part of it. Thanks so much for stopping by, Jerry.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
I tell you, this morning there was something creeping into the house through the windows. At first it was eerie, but when we recognized SUNSHINE, my black dog turned gray. I was happy for a change. Okay. Happy is stretching it a LOT, but I felt better. Until 4pm when I hit the couch and decided that moving is highly over-rated. But I do think lack of sunlight is conducive to black dogs.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, lotta — sunshine is not a favourite of the Black Dog. I'm glad to hear of any improvement in your area.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Nice :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Zoe. I hope you are doing well; same for the Caniche!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Yes, I think what I hate most about winter is the danger ice poses for us long distance walkers. Only in winter does a mile become two miles.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that the opposite of depression isn't happiness, but vitality.
We were out for another walk tonight, and the sidewalks were very slippery in some places. Not terribly safe!
DeleteAnd I've seen that same thing, that vitality is the opposite of depression. Lately I've been feeling I have all the vitality of a wet noodle!
Blessings and Bear hugs, Susan
Your post was exactly what I needed to read tonight. It's been tough for me lately and I realized today, while watching Olympics, that I have allowed regular exercise to disappear from my life (aside from short walks with the 12-year-old dog). I had decided to address this issue tomorrow, and now I definitely will.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are doing better, and so grateful for you and your sharing.
I'm glad I could provide something interesting and motivational! Thanks for letting me know.
DeleteI'm trying to stay well. I've read in multiple places that walking is basic good exercise, for the body and the mind. So it's become very important to me.
Blessings and Bear hugs, to you and Bonbon, Lydia!
