IT'S MELTING! IT'S MELTING!

Yes, it's melting in the land of the Bear. Temperature at about 5°C (or 41F). Blue sky out there!

Deck is almost snow-free

Path through the yard is drying out

Water off the deck roof is slowly coming

Water coming off the high roof is a problem!

Street is almost clear

Big puddle; get your rain boots and come on over!
What do you mean, you don't like to splash around in big puddles?

So, what excitement is happening in your world this weekend?

Blessings and Bear hugs, friends!

  Today's Weather Report

Clear, bright blue sky (though there are supposed to be some clouds, somewhere). Temperature of 1C (34F), supposed to rise to 3C (37F), but we've already passed that. If this keeps up, we might get spring in a couple of weeks. Or else some flooding (Boo! Hiss!).

  1. Yayy! Spring is definitely coming to the Bear's neighborhood. That makes me very, very happy. Lots of smiles sent your way. :-)

    1. Thanks, DJan. With weather, one really never knows for sure what will happen. Today's developments are "promising."

I can feel the joy and smiles all the way up here. Thanks, again.

    1. Fret not, kj. We'll probably get some more snow before winter is over. Channelling pansies sounds interesting, but I'll not get into the technique. I hope it works for you.

Blessings and Bear hugs to you and JB!

  3. I always loved watching snow falling through the streetlights and car lights at night. I always loved the morning silence of pure snow, untouched. BUT SLUSH!? HATE IT!!!

    1. Snow is such a delight, as you have noted. Slush; not at all!

How much snow does one get in an average year in Floruba?

  4. Even the curbside icy pile ups from repetitive snow plow actions seem to be melting today here in NYC. And so I agree...it's melting. Something tells me that we still might see a few more flakes in this surprising month of March.

Bear, I did finally click on the music video...and realized that I had heard that tune before. I am not much on country music, but did think the lyrics were bouncy. Still haven't quite finished my knitting project. Maybe this week.

    1. Ice and show have to go! I'm sure they will, eventually. Glad you got on to that music video. Bouncy, indeed. And happy knitting; don't get strung out.

  6. I've come to understand Spring in these parts is known as 'the mud months'. Come to think of it lots of people wear Wellies six months of the year. We have no flowers yet, but there are hints of early greening if I look closely in the right places.

I hope you have nothing but melt and flowers to follow soon.

    1. I'm sure the many benefits of spring will be with us reasonably soon. We have a large foyer inside our back door, affectionally knows as "the mud room," for very good reason. You know what I mean. Hope your spring is soon in the "delightful" category!

Blessings and Bear hugs. Best regards to Crow.

  7. Isn't it wonderful. I found crocus and other bulbs coming up in places where the snow has melted away.

    Spring is in the air!

  8. I DO like to splash in puddles. I never felt happier to see a few of them than I was this week. Though that was just on the roads.. we've still got a few feet of snow everywhere else. Enjoy your melt, Bear. And hopefully true spring will soon follow.

    1. The melt is going well. At 11:00, the temperature is 0C, on the way to 2C. Please don't play on the roads; we would all miss you if a car came along when you weren't looking! Looks like spring is possible!

  9. We have been having rainy nights in Bend ... I LOVE sleeping when it's raining. No broken molars, Bear ... the Jelly Belly poem was pure unadulterated fiction.

    1. I love sleeping in the rain. Or doing other things in bed. (Like reading.) Delighted to know you've got no broken molars! That would such a nuisance!

  10. Nothing to melt here, but in a few months it will be so hot that I'll be melting.

    1. But think of it this way, Janie; when you're hot, you're hot. Well, maybe not so good.

    1. More fun! But we don't want the girls to end up with cold, muddy, wet feet. Foot rot is not fun; treating it is even less fun. Hope the warm-up comes soon!

    1. Thanks for the wonderful thought, Rosaria. But we can still get nasty spring storms in March (and even early April). The kind of storms that kill new-born calves and bring down power lines.

  13. Yea melting! Quick, make some snow ice cream while you can.

Sigh. We are warm here today but expect a frigid day Wednesday. We can't put away those coats just yet!

    Happy Thawing!

    1. Don have the ingredients or the equipment for the ice cream. A good thought, Reffie. Thawing will be a happy thing. I believe it is the deep cold, more than the extended dark, that slows me down in the winter.

  14. This year I welcome spring much more than I have in the past - the winter has seemed endless everywhere. So happy warmer days are here for you too, Rob. Blessings for a sunny week ahead. xoxo

    1. I entirely understand that thought about winter seeming so endless. Our -52C temperatures do not help the situation. As I mentioned to Reffie, it's the cold that gets to me.

Hope you and your guard Airedale have a wonderful spring!

  15. Excitement was I arrived home from Utah to 70 degree weather. Bizarre, and up in Utah the snow is lower than half what it was in previous years...scary stuff

    1. Ah, Mary: we are a long way form 70F. Like about 40 degrees. But the sun is getting up earlier, so we must be close to spring.

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
