Roof is coming along nicely.
Looks like lots of inside space.
I haven't seen the addition myself, but J says there is all kinds of room up there. (In the pre-renovation place, things were very squished; it was only a one-and-a-half story house.)
"I Can Gather All the News I Need from the Weather Report"
Well, maybe not all the news, but a fair amount. It isn't as hot as it has been. The high was just over 20 today (that's 68F), which is pretty darned decent. I got out for a couple of walks (total of 12 blocks — this is good, but I was a bit sore).
The weekend will bring 30° temperatures (86F+). But starting next week it's all downhill, with early September highs below 20. Does it sound like autumn is coming?
On the other hand, it's almost spring in Australia, and New Zealand, and Fiji, and Chile, and South Africa, and. . . .

For the Birds
I saw a family of Canada Geese on the river this morning — lined up as usual. But all the birds looked adult size, and the line was really strung out. Time goes by; the kinds grow up. Happens every year.
Also found a little bird on the cement deck around our swimming pool. Couldn't say what it was, but when J picked it up and set it on the ledge, it headed for the ground, which has quite a bit of cover. Probably fell out of a nest, thought we didn't hear any parents calling for it. I hope it's OK.
Ringing Ears
The fire alarm went off in the building this afternoon. (False alarm; no smoke, no fire engines.)
But it was so loud, I jumped. Literally. I was busy concentrating on something I was reading. Usually the fire alarm is a faint ringing in th distance; today it sounded like the alarm bell was right in our apartment. I guess bionic ears will do that to you.

And that's the news; I'm Rob-bear!
Blessings and Bear hugs, everyone.
Lots o' good news. Your thoughts about the weather got me to thinking about, well, what I've been thinking about a bit lately: that I don't want summer to end, but my body is craving the fall. I'm seriously messed up. haha
ReplyDeleteI was born in September, and I love September weather: not too hot, and not too cold. I guess you and I are in the same mess.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Hi Bear, I am so glad you connected your blog to FB! Now i will not miss your posts as they happen rather than catching up every once in a while. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm prepared to try a number of things. Let it never be said the Bear is inflexible!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
all this sounds like life, mr. bear. which is the point :^)

The very ordinariness of life, kj. You're right! LIfe is good!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Oh bionic ears take some getting used to:) B
ReplyDeleteChange means adaptation, Buttons. And change is about the only constant (other than death and taxes).
DeleteHope your fall work is coming along well.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Renos are looking wonderful. Your family will be so happy. Hot and dry here too. Forecast for next week is in the 40s. Am trying to catch up on blog reading. At day's end I have no energy left for writing though.
ReplyDeleteProgress on a lot of fronts, BF. Mostly happy with changes in me.
DeleteHope you stay well in the heat; I trust id does not irritate Tanya or the dogs too badly.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Glad to hear your bionic ears are helping. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks to me as if the house will be beautiful once it's done.
The ears are great, Misha, until I get an "earfull" of something — like a fire bell. Then, I'm almost deafened, which defeats the purpose of the bionic ears. Strange, but true.
DeleteAnd the house will, I trust, look great. I haven't seen the plans. Latest addition seems to be a climbing wall. As if some are not climbing the walls already. Ah, well.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
It's a beautiful rather warm day here in my neck of the woods, too. I love the mid-seventies (that's 25 to you) and that's what we've had all summer long, except for the occasion foray into the eighties. Glad to hear your bionic ears are working so well! :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're having great weather. Is i much colder up in the air at jumping altitude?
DeleteWith the fire alarm, I discovered by bionic ears may work too well at time.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
I also hate to see the end of summer, but September is always such a lovely month and the crispness in the air that usually comes towards the end of the month is invigorating. However, I want to hold onto to summer for a little longer as it has been a good one here this year.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that the house is almost done and will be completed long before the winter and time for hibernation sets in.
It seems you enjoy September as I do. Great time of the year!
DeleteAnd the house will be ready for hibernation season, though I'm not sure anyone there hibernates. They're all just too busy!
Blessings and Bear hugs!
The house is looking great! Fire alarms are so loud. Pierce is terrified of them.
ReplyDeleteFire alarms are important; too bad they scare some people when they go off! I suppose it's like being "bounced" by Tigger.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Your temperature seems to be having noticeable fluctuations. I hope your 20 to 25 degrees will stick around or if not, come back before the cold stuff comes in. (Of course I had to look back at your post to see what the "Celsius" readings are. I don't know if I'll ever learn to use that method!)
ReplyDeleteStairs in...progress!
Yes, it seems that your bionic ears are working. :)
The weather here is pretty unpredictable. But we manage to survive. What with central heating and air conditioning, we can live in, and with, most weather.
DeleteCelcius. Think Metric temperatures: 0 = freezing point (32F); 100 = boiling point (212F). So 50 is extremely hot by human terms, but 20 to 25 is delightful (put on a light sweater if you feel chilly).
Other things are going well, thanks.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
I've always known and thought about 0 = 32F, but never 100 = 212F. Freezing to boiling - good tip! Thanks.
DeleteThe house is looking good and it sounds like you have been served up a little good news in your neck of the woods. I hate fire alarms. Our house has two and every single time I cook the dumb thing goes off and scares the crap out of me. LOL It sets the dogs off barking and puts the world in chaos. The storm sirens are worse. One is on a pole right near my house and when that thing goes off, the dogs go into orbit. LOL

PROGRESS ~ that's the way we spell SUCCESS!
ReplyDeleteThe new addition is sure to make life much more comfortable for your family. Winters can be most difficult in cramped surroundings.
ReplyDeleteYes, we're still having warm, sunny days here but the nights have cooled a lot. My favourite.
Let's hope the little bird made it to a safe perch.
Be well.
Glad you're having good wether. Is it anything like the Pacific north-west?
DeleteThe size of the new upstairs will be so much better for everyone.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
The house is coming together very well. Nothing like getting stuff done to make a person feel better and I'm sure they are happy about it too.
ReplyDeleteWill there be room for you and mama bear?
ReplyDeleteDoctors: My platelets bottomed out, making me a BLEEDER, but not prone to having a stroke or a heart attack. They raised my platelets to a HIGH that requires blood thinner to prevent a stroke or heart attack. arrrgh
The heart doctor said to take CoQ10. Over the counter, and expensive. I started it. I felt WONDERFUL for three days, til it started causing severe GERD and heartburn. So, now I'm depressed.
BETTER LIVING THROUGH PHARMACEUTICALS.
Autumn will not come to Florida for quite sometime. The tree in my front yard usually loses its leaves during January.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
A tree that loses its leaves in January may be suffering from delayed development. I'd check with the tree's doctor or surgeon on that.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
It's just not chilly enough for the trees to lose their leaves until then. All the trees in my neighborhood are the same way.
DeleteLove to read about your progress. Those miles do add up to good health, good spirits. keep up the good work, Bear.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to order some 68 degree days, please. Yes, express would be fine. I'll pay.
ReplyDeleteNice progress on the house.
Oh, and I'll be sending some of your geese back to you soon.
Hope things stay quiet up there for awhile.
The house is coming along great!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the ringing in the ears! Not fun!
I hope the little bird is ok! Poor little guy!
Big Hugs and many blessings ;o)
It was very hot here today and I'm really looking forward to fall weather.
ReplyDeleteAs always, keeping you in my good thoughts.
Take good care, Rob-Bear
More at eleven...Good to see the reno is moving along! Today I left a little bear ditty on my blog and thought of you...Hope you continue to be well...Z~and caniche.
