COFFEE AND TOFFEE
Coffee
Coffee
is not
Toffee.
Toffee is
sticky sweet
and melts in your
mouth,
without pulling out
any fillings.
(Lost fillings would be
yucky!)
Then it rolls
round your tongue
and slides
round your tongue
and slides
down your throat.
Yum!
Coffee is
black and bitter.
Adding sugar,
or milk,
or milk and sugar,
really doesn't help,
though some claim it does.
(That's yucky!)
though some claim it does.
(That's yucky!)
And coffee can
upset your tummy.
(Also yucky!)
Ug!
Ug!
Sadly,
I don't have
any Toffee.
But I do have
But I do have
some hunny*
So I'll have hunny
with a scone.
with a scone.
And tea**!
____________________________
* Hunny is spelled that way by Bears; Humans spell it "honey," but I don't know why.
** "Monks' Blend" is a delightful tea. Black, but not overly strong.
Do you prefer coffee or tea? Is there a particular blend you like? If not, what do you drink?
Addendum
This year in the A-Z Challenge, it has been suggested that we try to stick with a theme. Seeing as I am very suggestible, I'm going to try that. I haven't announced my theme yet, so I had better do so. My theme is "What you might experience if you encountered a 'wondrously peculiar' Bear." Simple enough?
C is also for cranium, cattle, crane, complicated, and Cree.
Blessings and Bear hugs, folks.

I am afraid I am addicted to coffee, but I also love tea. In fact, the tea I have now is simply entitled "Lipton." And toffee, I agree! :-)
ReplyDeleteDo you take tea or coffee with you when you go mountain climbing? And after you jump out of airplanes? If the tea is lipton, it is probably Orange Pekoe.
DeleteHope you have a splendid week.

I'm a coffee drinker...maybe even a coffee addict. Drinking my first cup as I type. Although I do love tea, too!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like your coffee, and your tea. Just don't spill any of it on your computer as you type.

I love Coffee...not so much black though...love it with sugar free french vanilla creamer...toffee is yummy too! Great post Rob...blessings and thanks for stopping by my little ole' blog bud!

I like lemon tea from Pickwick, but I like coffee better. I buy a cheap brand because I drink a lot of it, but it is specially roasted and meant for a drip filter machine, so it tastes good. I like just plain sugar in my tea, by the way, not honey. But then I am not a bear.
ReplyDeleteLemon tea sounds delightful. My daughter got me some lime & ginger tea for Christmas. It is good!
DeleteI knew you were a great coffee drinker. But I forgot about the drip bit. That's the kind of coffee my parents used to make (back in the 1950s). Put the hot water in the top, let it seep through the coffee underneath.

Apologies Bear ... I missed A & B! Will return for a nice read ... two cups (huge) of coffee every morning for this cub. Milk or cream, no hunny. Hooked on Starbucks Blonde (what else?)
ReplyDeleteCoffee in large doses. Some people call it a "cup of ambition" to start their morning. I don't think I could handle that. In fact I would probably balk at the offer.
DeleteYou're only hooked on Starbucks because you don't know about Tim Horton's.
I've been following your dancers, but I can't dance — like most Bears.

I love toffee...and I'm not crazy about coffee.
ReplyDeleteI drink it, but I prefer tea.
I love the spelling of "Hunny"....but then I love all things Pooh.
Hugs to you, Rob....
Jackie
I quite understand your tastes, Jackie. Well refined tastes they are, too.
DeleteHere's to more toffee, but not in your tea.

I love tea. But not the stuff you drink. My tea is made from rooibos, which technically makes it a herbal infusion but no one here cares. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's delicious with cinnamon and hunny.
Yes, Misha. We have a friend from South Africa. He and his wife introduced us to rooibos — delightfully tasty. But I've got so much tea in my cupboard that there isn't room for more. Next time I'm buying tea, I'll get some rooibos. Thanks.

Oh Bear, I LOVE My tea! I tolerate coffee, usually while on vacation and with A LOT of cream.
ReplyDeleteHoney is yummy indeed!
I certainly prefer tea. Though, if I'm out, and someone gives me coffee, I won't object. I take my tea clear and my coffee black. ("Unpolluted" my parents would say.) Me, I'm a real man; I take my drinks straight.
DeleteDoes Oreo drink coffee with you? Or Evil Twin?
Also, I wouldn't open toffee around them; cat hair in toffee, I imagine, isn't so great.

Bear - I love coffee with cream - I grind my own Star Bucks - I love tea with lemon or cream and sweetener - and I love toffee - so I am good to go with anything. sandie
ReplyDeleteYou are such an easy person to please!
DeleteGrinding your own Starbucks. Perc. or drip?
Hope you're having a wonderful day!

I'm partial to both coffee and tea but not at the same time. Every evening I grind medium roast Columbian for my two wake-up cups of coffee (hmm, don't spread this around but my coffee cup is an old Bunnykins). Yes, my husband wakes earlier than me and makes our coffee the old fashioned Melitta cone way.
ReplyDeleteDuring the rest of the day and after dinner we drink tea - orange pekoe for me and green for him. Last thing at night, like now, we have a cup of red bush tea (roobios).
That was a nice poem.
No cream or sweetener, thanks.
:-)
Different tastes at different times. At least you know what you like and you go for it. And Bunnykins mugs are good. (I still have a very old one of mine around the apartment somewhere.) Plus you're wise enough to not mix your drinks.
DeleteMore and more people are talking about rooibos. As I said earlier, when I've got a bit more space in my tea cupboard, I'll get some.
Also nice to know that you're sweet enough and don't need sweetener. (I could have told you that a long time ago.)
And I'm glad you liked the poem. I'm trying to be a bit more faithful to my poetry blog. After A-Z is over, I'll e going back there.
BTW, you've not mentioned Crow lately. I do hope he is well. (We critters have to watch out for each other.)

Crow's been researching human waste systems. Last I saw of him was when he went to the outhouse and closed the door. Do you suppose he may have found a rear exit?
DeleteFunny, I though outhouses were all about "rear exits" (or exits from the rear). But maybe I'm not awake enough to know for sure.

Let's see. A couple of cups of Italian roast coffee, made with a French press, are part of my daily breakfast. That's it for the day, unless I have a day off and might have a relaxed tea time mid afternoon. Then, it could be Darjeeling, or PG Tips, or Earl Grey or something from Mariage Freres, or even some sort of green tea or even jamsine tea.
ReplyDeleteIf I meet a friend for coffee, I just might order a cappuccino. I also like making an occasional espresso in my funny little Italian faceted-sided aluminum pot.
Bear...I will put milk in that breakfast coffee and also into most tea. Sugar...never.
Was this too much information? xo
Fascinating to learn the drinking habits of friends. Yours sound quite refined, as I would expect. Also quite varied. Taken together, all sounds wonderful.
DeleteAnd, no; not too much information at all.

ReplyDeletei like coffee so much i wrote a poem about it too (a while back)
happy c day!
Hello, Tara. Thanks you so much for coming by and visiting the Bear's blog.
DeleteGlad you like your morning coffee. I got a small package of coffee a while ago, thinking I would try to drink some on a regular basis. For some reason that didn't work out, so I'm regularly back to drinking tea. Live, and learn!
I'll see if i can find your coffee poem when I come to visit.

Hey there Bear! I like Toffee flavored Coffee!
ReplyDeleteOK. You've proven that there is no accounting for some peoples' tastes. Or some Bears responses, for that matter.
DeletePlease enjoy your toffee coffee

Ha ha! Enjoyed your post... AND my morning coffee. This morning's flavor was Raspberry Chocolate Truffle...how can you NOT like a flavor like that?!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Thanks for visiting mine, and good luck with the rest of the challenge! You're off to a beary good start, lol!
Raspberry Chocolate Truffle coffee! You certainly know how to blow this Bear's mind. (Actually, you had me at Raspberry — I would so like some of those, but everything is still covered with snow and snirt.)
DeleteThank you for the kind note. I hope you're having fun with the A-Z Challenge.

There was no way I could stick with a theme. It was hard enough just following the alphabet. lol
ReplyDeleteI love my coffee. With lots of milk and sugar. But I also love tea. Especially Earl Gray. My favorite coffee is Hills Bros. mocha.
Thanks for the note, Mary. I have trouble sticking to a theme, too. So I made up a theme that could have anything in it. Some might say that's cheating; I consider it to be creativity.
DeleteGlad you enjoy your coffee. I'll have it occasionally, especially if I'm out. But I've never really acquired a taste for it. My wife doesn't drink it at all.
Blessings and Bear hugs!

I loathe coffee! Toffee not so much! I am a tea totaller by far...earl grey is best or his lady friend. i love your bears! My blog recently had a reprint of a dog blog I had done of my poodle confronting a bear by our chicken coup. I will enjoy following your blog!
ReplyDeleteZoe, thanks so much for dropping by and sharing your thoughts. I'm pretty much tea total myself, though I like a variety of blends, green and black.
DeleteI would like to see the Poodle and Bear picture! I've had a number of Standard Poodles.
