Hello, Friends:
I rolled over in my den, and got a sharp poke in the side.
It was a "GGGRRRrrr?" moment.
Turned out it was just a pebble in my bed — far more annoying that I would have thought. But no damage of any sort. (If you're a Human, and have had cracker crumbs in your bed, you'll understand the situation.)
I went to stick out my snout, and check the world, since I was awake. Bashed my nose into a wall. It was a "GGGGRRRr" moment. My nose hurt! (Like Queen Victoria, I was "not amused.")
In my lack of amusement, I swatted where I thought the entrance to my den should be. (Only a gentle swat for me, though it probably would have knocked over a Human.)
Suddenly, a blast of cold air! Fresh air at that. (That's when I noticed things had been getting a bit stuffy in my bedroom.)
Still, though, only Bearly able to get my snout out. Really couldn't see much of anything. Or smell much of anything.
Took a few moments to adjust my eyes to the light, and realized everything was covered with snow. Even the entrance to my den had been snowed in.
That's a lot of snow!
Obviously, there wasn't going to be a mid-winter snack out there. Well, no matter; I'm really not hungry. Just a bit sleepy.
Right, then; back to bed. See you in the spring!
Blessings and Bear hugs, everyone!
Today's Weather Report
Snow. Chilly. (As in -23C, that feels like -31. In American terms, that's -9F feeling like -24.) OK; some might call that cold.
That's today and tonight. Tomorrow . . . is another day.
(P.S.: This is Rob, slipping in on the end of Bear's post. Things are OK here, despite the snow. But that's not entirely true everywhere up north. J was talking to her brother, who lives in New Brunswick, Canada. That's Maine-ly a little north and east of New England, USA. There is a tonne of snow (actually many tonnes) down there, and they are slated to get a lot more. Afterwards we saw pictures — the snow beside one guy's walk was piled as high as his shoulders, on both sides. No, that's NOT an exaggeration.
But, yes, we're OK; hope you are, too!)
Stay safe. Hope springs crawls in quickly.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it will. But I don't think so; we're still in the dead of winter.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Nighty night, Rob-Bear!!
ReplyDeleteSleep well, fishducky!
Deleteblessings and Bear hugs!
Good to hear all is well even if a little snowy. Did you see the video of the cat faced with a wall of snow? It has been circulating on FB for a while now. That will make you smile.
ReplyDeleteYes; we're being cool but staying warm.
DeleteHaven't seen the bit about the cat. Have I really missed something?
Hope you have a restful cease-fire, if it lasts.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
Oh Bear stay in your den. It is cold and nasty. I am thinking of our friends trapped in the east coast oh yes winter has not been kind to them.I am ready for spring too. Bear hug B
ReplyDeleteNow that the air in the den isn't so stuffy, I'm expecting to have another good rest. Though I hear that spring isn't expected to start until May first. (Perhaps you could check that out.)
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs! (Hope the girls are OK.)
You've given me the first smile of the day. On top of snow, ice and more snow, never mind poorly cleared streets and sidewalks, we're now experiencing another blizzard. We don't usually see any spring flowers here until April (at least), but right now I'd be happy to see pavement.
ReplyDeleteGo back to sleep, Bear. Spring comes sooner that way.
Yawn. Stretch. I know you're a Human, but your really might enjoy hibernating (or a reasonable facsimile thereof). Pull up the covers, with a little air hole to breath, and you should be good. And save a space for Crow!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs! Best regards to Crow, as usual.
I am beginning to be won over by the hibernation concept. This winter is really beginning to be a bit of a bore. Our temperature today (with the help of fierce winds) is not much warmer than yours. Any remaining snow left over from last week is now icy solid...and unattractive, too.
ReplyDeleteHow good to stay indoors by the warmth of the laptop. Making soup, reading, making tea, knitting, calling friends. Oh...let's not forget sleeping.
And yet, spring does draw closer every day. So they say. xo
Oh, Frances: this is excellent! You're really learning to hibernate (as a Human!). Keep this up, and I'll tell all the Bears about you, when we get up in the spring (which, I understand, begins May 1st this year).
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
I am glad you are OK, Bear. It's been an unBEARably hard winter for some. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you've been having such a tough time, DJan. Some Humans are, it seems, taking me seriously about hibernating, and are trying to do that as best they can. (See Frances' comment, above.) Sadly, I cannot be more helpful; I have only a den for one.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
I live a little south of all this snowfall and feel very blessed. The far Northeast is having a rough time and it is hard to imagine the stress they must be going through.
ReplyDeleteYou have one more month to sleep. Spring will be here in a little over a month.
Glad to know you are missing all the "fun." (Really, it is fun, if you can adjust your mind to it — that is the big challenge for many.) And it can be stressful; trying to get from point A to point B, especially when driving, is problematic during and after a snow storm. Though we're accustomed to it here; the City has a priority system for cleaning roads. So you just wait for the system to work, which it does, eventually.
DeleteThat's a nice new picture of you! (Yes, it has been a while since I last visited.)
Blessings and Bear hugs!
lol I remember in Quebec we'd open our front door to a wall of snow. But people took it in great stride. Snow was so much fun but we had mild weather not cold like Toronto where it got under the clothes into the skin.
ReplyDeleteI always liked to shut off the electric heater in my room and open the window just a smidgen. Under warm blankees you slept like a baby and woke up with a red nose but so happy. The first thing you did was run to the window to play with the snow gathered on it and see the jack frost window paintings. Great life!
Great life, indeed, m'lady!
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
A sleeping bear should not be disturbed! Stay warm R-bear and will look forward to seeing you in the spring.
ReplyDeleteFret not, amanda; Bear is doing just fine.
DeleteAnd remember; spring starts May 1st this year.
Blessings and Bear hugs!
It seems we're having the same kind of weather and temperatures around here. I'm glad that all is okay despite the cold. Burrow in, big bear!
ReplyDeleteI understand your situation, HIlary. All the more reason for you to try to be more ursine in your nature. 'Twill help you get through the winter.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Now that is COLD! I'm sure everyone is tiring of the white stuff about now. It's crazy. I hope it's still nice and toasty in your den.
ReplyDeleteIt's not really cold, Reffie; it is bracing, brisk, and refreshing. Or something close to that. It is warm in my den, and the the air I let in is just fine. It's just that, in Canada, one gets accustomed to things not being so hot. At least not in the winter.
DeleteI was over to your blog, and caught up with Dani and Jayne. Some things are still just there. Life is short, death is sure, and some things just hang in there.
Blessings and Bear hugs! (Best regards to Oreo and Evil Twin.)
Good to hear from you Bear! Stay in your cave and keep warm for the moment, but I am hoping that Spring will arrive before May.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right, CW. But I'll wait until I wake up to figure that out.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
I wonder if you saw this video of a train in NB, Rob?
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen that video until now, susan. It is amazing! Tanks for sharing it.
DeleteI hope your roads are not like that!
Blessing and Bear hugs!. Best regards to Crow.
Bad weather has usually been the lead story on the evening news for weeks, yet here in western Oregon, it's sunny and warm--the best winter weather I've ever seen here, actually.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and Rob well.
I hope you keep having a wonderful winter, Snow. And an equally delightful spring.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
We've been having spring-like weather here....we never really had a winter in Seattle. Global warming? Glad to hear you are well!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for coming by and leaving a kind note, Katherine.
DeleteNot so much global warming as climate change and very strange weather, generally. But, well, whatever. Strange; very strange!
Blessing and Bear hugs!
You know our snow situation here! I am going to take your hibernation idea though and run with it...well proverbially anyhow... otherwise it wouldn't be much of a hibernation would it? I am so happy to be back here. I missed showing up even during hibernation season... dont know how I lost track of you...luckily bears are good trackers and you led me back! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back, Ivy. You're way more important than that dog, no matter how important he thinks he is.
DeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!
Deep snow here Rob. Way deep!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your remaining slumber
Love
kj
This winter in our area had less snow but was so cold water mains broke and hydro poles caught on fire by arcing!! power outages all over the place and that's a record for us! Feb. had the coldest number of days on record.
ReplyDeleteI like snow. I bild snow bears wiv it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that bears can't spell worth a darn, but that they're excellent mathematicians. Is this true in your experience?
DeleteUsually we can make things ad up!
