INFORMATION AGE

"First, we traded wisdom for knowledge, then we traded knowledge for information." ~ Anon.

That's how we got to the "information age."

And now, as Da Blog Fodder has pointed out, we've exchanged information for data.

Sigh! When will this ever end?

  1. Ain't it the truth. We have since gone from information to data. We now know more and more about less and less.

  2. Now at times we have too much information.

  3. ...and we can't distinguish between the valuable data and the total nonsense!

  4. Once again I have proof positive that some of the smartest people in the blogshopere read this blog.

® Blog Fodder: I should add that correction to my post. Thank you for that. It does, indeed, seem the next logical progression. The whole world is simply a string of ones and zeros. How demoralizing, and somehow, degrading.

® cheshire wife: Way too much information, and insufficient context in order to make sense of the "input." Thanks.

® Paris and Beyond: Genie, you hit on the same issue as CW, and BF. At least I can make sense of your pictures and notes. Thanks.

  5. I think we compliment ourselves too much over what we know or think we know. The animal world is far more knowledgeable if you ask me. Apparently critters are moving away from the equator at a rate of 15 feet per day to get away from global warming. Somewhere on the top of a mountain, someone or something is building an ark! I wonder who's going to be first on it this time?

  6. ® Star: I never knew that animals were moving away from the equator at that rate. That's quite frightening, when one thinks about it. Thanks for the input.
And yes, other Animals are a lot more understanding of things around then than Humans are. Perhaps because Humans don't really pay much attention to such things, and always think they can "fix" any little problems which come along.

So glad you've dropped by the Bear's den. Please leave a note -- getting notes is such fun, and often informative. I'll get back to you, here or by e-mail, as soon as I can (or, if it's winter, after I wake up). 'Til then, please Bear with me.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN AWARD-FREE AND MEME-FREE SITE. While I'm honoured to receive awards, I find they take way too much energy in completing. Thanks, but no, thanks.
